rock on! to a very full day....

so this pic makes it look like i'm leading a big ol' line of runners. in fact there are about as many in front of me that you can't see as there are behind ;) i'm a humble and honest soul, so i'm not gonna make it seem like i'm leading the pack or anything untrue. (this is from the Dam Hill Workout with about 125 Lifetime Fitness Run Club members 2 weeks ago near the Ford plant in St Paul). My running partner, Claudia, is right behind me. She's one of my VIPs on the road to training for 2 half marathons...along with the rest of my team...

running has taught me much in the 2 short years I've been doing it. a) it's given me a whole heap of self confidence i never used to have. b) it's taught me dedication, discipline and hard work totally pay off. c) it's made me love a challenge. and it's helped me learn to step outside of my comfort zone and, once in a while, think outside of that proverbial box.... Today was no exception...

I started my day like any other Wednesday. With my Baby & Me storytime at 9:30. Reading to and with babies and their caregivers from the ages of 10 months to 2 years....everything after that hour was far from the norm. 10:30 I went to a preschool at a local church to do a storytime for 30 4 & 5 year olds. Lunch at 11am due to a short staffed reference team...desk time from noon til 1pm. met with architects and VIPs about our renovation/remodel project 1-2:30. Reference services to kids & parents from 3-5. and from 5:30-8pm, I filled in for a sick friend and colleague & taught a class at one of our branch libraries about using the many aspects of email to 7 adults ranging in age from probably 50-75 or so. Taught 'em how to make folders. How to clean and organize their email inbox. How to create a signature. And of course, the big huge important thing. how to use color text and smily icons 8-) (sorry, JL, I had to...making it fun and all that... ;) I also got through the rest of what I was supposed to teach them as well...

So this librarian has had an incredibly long but fulfilling day with one adventure and teaching/learning experience after another. Oh, and the craze of my last post about 'where in the world have you been?' with the Trip Advisor map has been a blast to see my colleagues take part in :)

Spring is here, the weather is finally warm and I can't wait to get the deck furniture out this weekend....along with running my last race on Sunday (a 5K in celebration of Earth Day) before the Big Dance in Fargo on May 17. peace ~ jd
